Ghanaian Recipe Using Cloves Peppre: Spicy Ghanaian Shito (Hot Black Pepper Sauce)
Shito is a beloved Ghanaian condiment made with dried fish, spices, and hot peppers. Cloves Peppre adds a distinctive warm, aromatic depth.
Ingredients:

1 tbsp Cloves Peppre

2 cups dried fish or shrimp powder

1 cup ground dried chilies
-
1 tbsp ground ginger
-
1 cup vegetable oil
-
2 medium onions (finely chopped)

2 tbsp tomato paste
-
1 tsp salt
-
1 stock cube (optional)
Instructions:

Heat the oil in a saucepan.

Add chopped onions and fry until golden.

Stir in tomato paste and cook 5–7 minutes.

Add dried fish/shrimp, chili, ginger, and ground Cloves Peppre.

Simmer gently, stirring occasionally for 30 minutes.

Add salt and seasoning cube to taste.

Store in sterilized jars once cooled.
Serving: Delicious with rice, kenkey, banku, or yam.
