🍽️ Recipe: Classic Nigerian Abacha (African Salad)
Ingredients:
- 1 pack Abacha (African salad)
- Warm water (for soaking)
- 2 tbsp palm oil
- 1 tsp ground crayfish
- 1 tsp ground pepper (optional)
- 1 tbsp potash solution (very small amount, optional/traditional)
- ½ cup ugba (oil bean slices)
- Salt to taste
- 1 small onion (sliced)
- Garden eggs or cucumber (optional)
- Fried fish or protein of choice (optional)
Instructions:
- Soak Abacha: Place shredded cassava in warm water for 5–10 minutes until softened. Drain well.
- Prepare sauce: Mix palm oil with a small amount of potash solution until it thickens slightly (optional step).
- Season: Add crayfish, pepper, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
- Combine: Add softened abacha and mix evenly.
- Add toppings: Stir in ugba, onions, and optional vegetables.
- Serve: Garnish with fried fish or protein if desired.
