Ghanaian Hausa Koko Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Madam JAS Hausa Koko powder

  • 2 cups water (for mixing)

  • 2 more cups boiling water

  • Sugar or honey (to taste)

  • Optional: ground cloves, ginger, or black pepper

  • Evaporated milk (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup Hausa Koko powder with 2 cups of room temperature water until smooth.

  2. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a pot.

  3. Gradually pour the cold mixture into the boiling water while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

  4. Reduce heat and simmer for 5–10 minutes until thickened.

  5. Add sugar, honey, or spices to taste.

  6. Serve hot with koose (bean fritters) or bofrot (fried dough balls).
