Recipe for Hausa Koko

Ingredients:

• ½ cup Hausa Koko powder

• 2 cups water

• 1 tbsp sugar (optional)

• 1 tsp ground cloves or ginger (optional for extra flavor)

• Evaporated milk (optional)

Instructions:

1. Mix the Hausa Koko powder in a small bowl with ½ cup of water to form a smooth paste.

2. Boil the remaining 1½ cups of water in a pot.

3. Gradually add the koko paste while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

4. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.

5. Add sugar and spices to taste.

6. Serve hot, optionally topped with evaporated milk and served with koose (fried bean cakes) or bofrot (doughnuts).
